Moths & Orchids with The National Trust 02 July 2010 Moths & Orchids with The National Trust for ScotlandThis FREE Event is being held through the Balmacara Estate Office. This is a great time of year for seeing the variety and attractiveness and sometimes the sheer size of our local moths. This is an opportunity to help record what moths feed at the lesser and greater butterfly orchids in some of the best meadows in the area, with several other species of orchid. The Saturday morning will be spent searching through the light traps set the previous evening to identify and record the catch and then releasing the live moths back into the meadows. If the weather is good, butterflies and day flying moths, such as burnet moths may be seen there as well. MEET AT: Footpath to Port an Eorna at Drumbuie (NGR NG. 776312) on Friday, 2nd July at 2200hrs or Saturday, 3rd July at 1000hrs.
