BDMLR Marine Mammal Medic Course

British Divers Marine Life Rescue are holding a Marine Mammal Medic Course at Kyleakin Village Hall on Sunday, 4th March 2012.

You don't need to be a Diver to undertake the Course, but you do require a Wetsuit, Survival Suit or Dry Suit and be 16yrs or older.  

The Course costs £90: the morning is taken up with Lectures on Whales, Dolphins and Seals and after Lunch (not supplied) the Course moves down to the Foreshore for the  hands-on part involving the safe handling of stranded cetaceans, using the life-size mannekins of Whale, Seal and a Dolphin.

Foreshore Clean Up - Kyleakin

We will try and find a weather window in December for this Clean Up.

 

Public Consultation Event ~ Kyleakin Quarry
17 November 2011

Skye Aggregates Limited will be holding a Public Consultation Event on Thursday, 17th November 2011 in Kyleakin Village Hall from 1.00pm - 7.00pm.

Skye Aggregates intend to submit a Planning Application to The Highland Council for the continued extraction of sand and gravel aggregates beyond April 2012 at their Site in Kyleakin Quarry.

The Proposals will significantly reduce the current Site area and currently consented mineral reserves as well as the annual production; supply will be solely by road haulage.

The Applicants' Agent will be available at the Event to discuss the Proposals and to receive any comments that may be offered.

The Kyleakin Local History Society are holding a Talk on the theme of "Memories Gone By" with Cathie Reid & Morag MacRae on Wednesday, 9th November 2011 from 7.30pm in Kyleakin Village Hall.
